As Esperanza lived in Mango Street she went through many experiences both from personal experience and from those around her during her encounter with the Three Sisters they told her what was stated in page 105 which says:"You will always be Mango Street. You can't erase what you know. You can't forget who you are." As Esperanza moved away she didn't forget who she was but those memories and experiences are what helped her realize her true self and purpose that way she had a dream to accomplish which was writing which was a proven success.

One thing Esperanza realizes about her identity is that she will always be Esperanza, and that she will always be Mango Street. She will always have those memories of the experiences she had on Mango Street, and she will always remember who she is as a person. In the future when she moves on from Mango Street and goes on to accomplish her goals, she will remember to go back for the ones she left behind.

Esperanza realizes that whatever she goes throw, or where she stands in the world the one thing she is going to keep is her identity. That she will always be Mango Street and that can't be taken away. Even when she moved away she kept the past with her and didn't forget about it. This is what helped her later on, to find herself and reach for her dream.

Esperanza realizes that her living on Mango Street will always be apart of her and helps her to identify herself and her writing helps her do that too. Also, that she is Esperanza and she will always be Esperanza, and her name will still be Esperanza. She will still have those memories with her friends on Mango Street and that is what helps her become a great writer and person.
