About the Colonial Library
Library Hours
Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Circulation Policies
- Students may check out up to 2 books at a time.
- Books are checked out for 2-week periods and may be renewed once.
- Magazines and reference books must remain in the library.
- Overdue fines are $.10 per book per day, not including weekends, holidays, or snow days.
- A student may not check out another book until all overdue books are returned and fines are paid.
- If a book is lost or damaged, the student will be charged the replacement cost for that book. If it is later found, the cost will be refunded.
- A student’s report card may be held until any outstanding fines are paid and/or missing books are returned or replaced.
Library Computers
The library maintains eight Apple computers with Internet access and the Microsoft Office Suite. These computers are available for students to use during library class periods, lunch periods, and before and after school. Students may visit the library to use the computers during class time if they have a pass from their scheduled teacher.

Library Scheduling
The Colonial library operates on a flexible schedule. This allows teachers and students to visit the library as needed to check out books and support classroom learning. Word Study classes visit the library regularly to reinforce reading fluency and comprehension.
Library Resources
The Colonial library offers a wide range of resources for teachers and students to use to supplement their classroom textbooks. The library's collection and additional resources includes:
- Over 10,000 fiction, non-fiction, biography, and references books
- Subscriptions to multiple periodicals that are available for use in the library
- Computers and printer
- Class sets of over 130 fiction and non-fiction books
- Books on CD
- Comfortable reading nook for silent independent reading
